Summary: Merrick and Issy meet up again... and a big discovery is made

Merrick was looking forward to tonight's performance. Last week had actually been a challenge for him. Though Issy had said she would be gone, he had hoped against hope that something would happen to allow her to show up. Alas, he did not see her as he went out for the performance. But he did well, knowing she would be there next week.

He peaked out to look as the auditorium filled up a few times. He was a bit worried she wouldn't show, but he smiled when he finally saw her in the audience. As the orchestra walked out, he even caught her eye and gave a wink as he smiled. He saw her blush as he sat down and prepared for an evening of Brahms, the orchestra performing Symphony No. 3 in F Major and Symphony No. 4 in E Minor.

Issy had been looking forward to this night all week. Her thoughts had constantly strayed to Merrick, even when she was having a great time with her sisters. Now she was even more excited to see him again.

When she saw him wink at her, she blushed. Just seeing him take the stage had her pulse racing a bit. She listened as they played. It was a beautiful piece and Merrick played with such feeling. When the performance was over, she waited around knowing that Merrick would find her when he could.

Merrick and the orchestra played very well, getting a very rousing ovation for their performance. Once in the dressing rooms, the conductor said a few words and let them go for the evening, which made him happy. It meant he could spend as much time with Issy as possible.

He cleaned up and shrunk his cello in a separate room, pocketing it before heading out. He smiled and nodded at the praise as he made his way through the crowd, then finally came to her. "Hello, Issy. Glad you could make it back," he said, kissing her hand.

Issy was becoming more and more nervous as she waited. She remembered Becca's challenge and was planning on finding some way of letting Merrick know she liked him. She just had no idea how which made her nervous that she wouldn't be able to meet his challenge.

When she finally saw Merrick, her smile grew. She loved the way he always kissed her hand. "I've been looking forward to it for the past couple of weeks. I missed seeing you last week." Gods...she could not believe she just said that.

Merrick was thrilled that she had missed him, smiling. "I have to admit, I missed you as well. It didn't affect my playing, as far as I know."

He could tell she was nervous, which made her so endearing. Then he felt it... the unmistakable feel of magic. He could feel it when someone was close, and she was the only one close enough. He was always careful to hide it around Muggles, but he was impressed by her... he had no idea until now.

He needed to let her know, but the hallway was not the best place. He looked around and smiled when he remembered something. "I'm feeling a little crowed, Issy. Would you like to walk through the conservatory with me?" he asked. It was closed for the evening to the public, but performers were welcome to go through until the centre closed for the night.

	Issy was trying hard to calm herself but it was difficult. She was worried she had made a fool of herself but when he told her that he had missed her to. It made her feel much better. Issy had seen the conservatory but had not had a chance to actually walk through. She had always said she needed to come earlier so that she could do that. "I would love to." 	Merrick smiled and took her hand, leading her down the hall and up the stairs. As they approached the doors, the guard greeting Merrick and let them inside. He stopped so she could look around for a moment, then slowly walked with her. "I've come up here after many performances," he said, "Helps calm me down and refreshes my thoughts." 	Merrick nodded as they walked. "Beautiful and relaxing," he said, rather liking that they were holding hands. They came to almost the center, surrounded by some beautiful trees. 	Issy was enjoying just being with him but was jolted out of her relaxing state with his question. It wasn't something that she had expected at all. He couldn't have asked what she thought he asked. 	Merrick was rather amused at her reaction to his question. "It's all right," he said as he reached into his jacket, "It took me a few years to do the same thing." Before she could answer, he pulled out and held up his wand for her to see, leaving her stunned. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Issy was shocked when she saw his wand. Then she remembered what she said to her sisters and started to giggle. "I can't believe this. Um...to answer your question it's pretty natural for me. I've been coming into the Muggle world all my life and it's just been something I've been able to do. At least now I don't have to have the whole magical world conversation I had planned."

	Merrick chucked and pocketed his wand. "Neither do I, it seems," he said as he laughed, "Had a whole spiel planned out and everything. At least we know now, which makes things so much easier." Part of him still couldn't believe he hadn't been able to tell. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Merrick nodded. "It helped being raised by Muggle parents for me," he said, "They were always supportive and made sure I was never found out unless I wanted it to happen."

He took her hand and held it. "From what I can gather from our last meeting, I can now guess that your Dad, Mum and brother David are Healers... your Papa, sister Alex and brother Nathan work for the Ministry. Am I right?"

	Merrick smiled again. "I know that clinic. Always saw it on Hogsmeade weekends when I went to Hogwarts," he said, Very neat that your parents run it. As for Alex... I think I can guess." 	Merrick's eyebrows really went up. "You're a professor? Wow..." he said, "Then you must have taken over for... I knew he was close to retirement. I remember being in his class, always saying he couldn't wait to get older. Now I know what he meant." He chuckled. "A musician and a professor... many possibilities in that combination." It was a bit unusual but I had already been tutoring lot of fellow students in Charms that Headmistress Montgomery felt I could handle the transition." She blushed hard the word combination. 	Merrick felt that thrill he hadn't had in a while. It was always exciting when a woman was interested in him, but with her it felt right. Merrick smiled and nodded. "It really will be. I'm so glad for that," he said as he led her out of the conservatory, "Trying to bridge the gap is so difficult at times."

He walked with her out of the centre and down to the Apparition point. He turned to look at her and sighed. "Sad that the evening is over... but already looking forward to seeing you again," he said, "Not sure about anything else, but I will see you here next week?"

	Issy liked walking with him to the Apparition point. There was such a weight that had fallen off to know that they wouldn't have to bridge that gap. She nodded. "I will definitely be here." She didn't want to go another week without seeing him. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Merrick smile and took her hand. "I will write and I will see you then," he said, kissing her hand and making her blush again. He watched as she Disapparated, sighing with relief and unable to take the smile off his face. He was so glad everything had played out better than he hoped. Now he could send her letters when he felt lonely, and he would see her again next week... and he was already making plans for the days after that.
