Summary: Merrick and Issy have their first date

Merrick smoothed out his shirt as he took a last look in the mirror, making sure Issy would like what he wore. He smiled and knew she would, no matter what it was, then Apparated to the point near Barbican Centre.

They had met last week after another wonderful performance, having coffee and talking and letting her get lost in his eyes. Their conversations had become so much easier now that they didn't have to hide anything from each other. When he told her there was no performance next week, she looked disappointed. But then he surprised her again by inviting her to dinner and a night on the town. After a bit of playful prodding, she said yes.

And finally, a week later, the night had arrived. Though he had enjoyed the week off, time seemed to move so slow in getting here. But now it was time for their first date... something he rather liked, considering it had been over a year since he'd last dated anyone. He checked his watch and saw it was almost 6 PM, waiting for Issy to arrive any second.

Issy wasn't used to getting ready for a date. It had been a long time since she had been on one. She was a little nervous but she had started to feel so comfortable with Merrick that the nerves weren't as bad as they had been in the past.

She checked herself one last time, making sure her new dress looked okay on her. When she was satisfied with how she looked she Apparated to where she was meeting Merrick. When she saw him she smiled. "Hi."

Merrick turned when he heard her appear, his eyes going wide. "Hello," he said, kissing her hand, "You look gorgeous. Ready for dinner?" She nodded and he hailed a taxi.

They got in and sat quietly, holding hands until they reached their destination. He helped her out and smiled as she looked up at the building. "We're going to the top," he said, leading her to a lift which took them eighty floors up. They stepped out and took in the atmosphere of the Oxo Tower Restaurant. "Shall we sit on the terrace?"

	Issy blushed at the compliment. She loved sitting with him in the cab just holding his hand. Her eyes went wide when he told her they would eating. It had a gorgeous view and sitting on the terrace sounded perfect to her. "I think that would be lovely." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Merrick nodded and told the host, who led them to a perfect table on the terrace. The view was brilliant as he held out a chair for her before he took his own seat.

He looked over the menu, amused when he saw Issy's jaw drop. He had dined here with his parents, so he knew what to expect. It helped that the LSO paid well, and he was smart with his money. "No worries, Issy. Everything is covered," he said, "How about the Lobster tempura to start, and Angus rib eye for the main course?"

	Issy was a bit surprised how expensive the place was. She was used to growing up with a lot of money but she rarely went to places like this one. His suggestions sounded exactly what she wanted. "That sounds wonderful." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Merrick smiled and placed the order, along with a bottle of wine. Once alone, he was his turn to get lost in her eyes for a bit. "It's always strange to have a week off," he explained, "It's like throwing me off my rhythm, but in a good way." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Issy nodded in understanding. "I'm like that for about a week or so after the end of term. It's strange to not to be in the castle and have lots of kids running around. It takes a bit of adjusting before I'm used to the quiet again." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Merrick nodded in understand. "That's how I'll be after the season ends," he said, "Will be a bit strange... but it means I'll have more time to write you. And perhaps come and see you on weekends."
